Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and Zara Tindall opt for white and pink matching dresses for Buckingham Palace garden party – after the King and Queen showed off their coordinating outfits

They were out in force yesterday to support their cousin Prince William as he hosted his first Buckingham Palace garden party of the year, without the Princess of Wales by his side.

Showing a united front, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and Zara Tindall all opted for white and pink matching outfits when attending the glamorous occasion in London.

Zara, 43, who was joined by her husband Mike Tindall, channelled her inner Eliza Doolittle in a stunning £1,500 Laura Green London Isobel Dress in white, with added pink buttons.

Looking equally radiant, Beatrice, 35, wowed in a £662.50 Beulah London Christina Dress in crimson, teamed with a £645 white gem embellished Emily-London headband.

Her 34-year-old sister also put on a stylish display in a white dress from Ulla Johnson and a pink headband, also from Emily-London.

Zara, meanwhile, completed her elegant ensemble with a sophisticated Rosa Boater hat and pink suede heels.

The mother-of-three was stylish but practical in the wet weather, adding heel stoppers to the bottom of her shoes to prevent her sinking into the ground, while a black umbrella shielded her from the rain – and looked like it was always meant to be a part of the look.

William was greeted by a sea of umbrellas when he hosted the summer event for his father yesterday, with the weather leaving some guests drenched and others sheltering in the tea tents.

Around 8,000 people were invited to one of the summer highlights of the royal calendar, including William’s cousins, with Peter Philips joining his sister Zara at the event. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were also present.

William left with a children’s book he pledged to read to Prince Louis at bedtime and a bag of freshly baked cookies from an RAF padre.

The prince, dressed in a top hat and morning suit, met Duchy of Cornwall tenant farmers Julie and Matthew Hall and let the husband and wife shelter under his umbrella.

The monarch often assigns responsibility for hosting one of the annual garden parties to family members, or allows them to organise one of their own for charities they are closely associated with.

William also hosted an event last year.

But with his father still undergoing treatment for cancer – as is his wife, the Princess of Wales – William’s presence, alongside the King’s nieces and nephew, will inevitably be seen as a sign of family unity at a difficult time.

Sources have previously indicated that the presence of the Duke of York’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, should not be seen as a sign that they will start to undertake more public engagements or becoming part-time working royals.

Both have other jobs and charitable interests outside of the institution but were always invited by their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, to occasionally attend garden parties or larger receptions at Buckingham Palace. It is a custom the King intends to maintain.

The glitzy event saw the likes of Maya Jama, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, Tess Daley, Vernon Kay and Dame Arlene Phillips arrive on the lawns of the royal residence in London in their finest attire.

Opting for striking patterned dresses, sharp suits and Ascot-worthy hats, the garden party guests certainly delivered on the regal dress code.

But it was Charles and Camilla’s matching pink outfits that had people raving on social media, with royal watchers praising the ‘lovely and sweet couple’.

King Charles, 75, looked dapper in a three-piece suit, which included a grey blazer and matching trousers with a pink silk waistcoat, finished with a graphic-print tie and matching handkerchief.

Queen Camilla, 76, who was often spotted by her husband’s side as they soaked up the May sun, wore a pale pink coat dress in the same pastel shade as Charles.
