Must read

Princess Kate is preparing the final touches for her Christmas Carol Service, taking place tomorrow evening, as a major update has been issued.

Kensington Palace has announced that Charlie Mackesy, an author and illustrator, has designed a bespoke illustration for the front cover of the Order of Service for this year’s ‘Together at Christmas’ Carol Service.

The concert is taking place on Friday, December 6 at Westminster Abbey.

This year’s service is set to provide a moment to reflect upon the importance of love and empathy, and how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives.

The service will shine a light on individuals from all over the UK who have shown love, kindness and empathy towards others in their communities.

Mackesy’s instantly recognisable words and illustrations have provided comfort to people around the world, especially during difficult times.

In 2019, he published his book “The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse,” which highlights the importance of kindness and friendship.

His illustration for the “Together at Christmas” Order of Service features a group of people embracing each other as they walk towards Westminster Abbey in the snow, with the words, “How did I help?”, along with “You were by my side. Which was everything.”

The words embody the theme of the Carol Service and the power of providing support to someone simply through being by their side when they need it most.

On Friday evening, Westminster Abbey will be filled with 1,600 people who have supported others in their communities, whether on a personal level with friends and family, through their work, or as they selflessly give up their time through volunteering.

Some of those who have gone through difficult times this year will also be in attendance.

These guests will be joined by Members of the Royal Family, as well as Princess Kate’s own family – the Middletons.

This year, alongside their Order of Service, each guest will receive a special letter from the Princess of Wales, thanking them for all they have done to provide comfort and hope to those who need it the most.

In the letter, Kate reflected on the importance of love, empathy, and how much we need each other in spite of our differences.

The service will be broadcast as part of Royal Carols: Together At Christmas, a special programme, airing on ITV1 and ITVX at 7:30pm on Christmas Eve.
