Prince Harry has been furiously slammed as a “broken record” by one of Prince William’s friends.
Both brothers attended their uncle Lord Robert Fellowes’ funeral in Norfolk last week sparking hopes for a reconciliation between the pair.
But insiders have warned them sweeping aside their differences is still a long way off as Harry still expects a “grovelling apology” from William and Princess Kate, according to a royal expert.
Now one ally of the Prince of Wales has slammed the Duke of Sussex, calling him “a broken record” who was “pretending to not get the message that he is not wanted”.
Harry is concentrating on his life with his wife Meghan Markle, 43, in Montecito, California, with their two children Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lfilibet, three.
However, he is apparently open to taking up a temporary role within the family to help out if he was asked to do so by King Charles and if he received an apology from Prince William, according to reports.
But an ally of Prince William has a brutal retort in response, telling The Daily Beast: “Harry is a broken record at this stage.
“We all know he would love to be given a part-time royal role, but Queen Elizabeth was very clear that he couldn’t be half in and half out. Nothing has changed.
“Whoever is promulgating these ludicrous theories on Harry’s behalf is simply pretending to not get the message that he is not wanted.”
Meanwhile, one royal commentator believes the British public would be left “appalled2 if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attend future royal events.
As rumours continue to swirl about whether the Duke of Sussex will make a return to the UK and his royal duties, Richard Fitzwilliams believes any return would be met with mixed reaction.
He said Harry commencing royal duties could increase The Firm’s popularity among the Commonwealth populations and people between the ages of 18 and 24 as these groups are “disillusioned with the monarchy” and “might warm to it more” if the Sussexes returned.
However, he warned: “Most supporters of the monarchy would be appalled at the prospect of the Sussexes appearing at Trooping the Colour or at Christmas.
“Their presence would surely detract from the serious work the royal family does throughout the year too.”
