Poundland is set to make alterations to all its stores in a bid to emphasise its £1 roots. Starting from Monday, clear signage will be displayed across each of its 800-plus stores, highlighting the hundreds of £1 products on offer.
Despite the presence of some higher-priced items throughout the store, company executives have stated that over 1,000 grocery items are still being sold at £1 or under in every Poundland shop including ones in Longton, Hanley, Newcastle and Tunstall. These deals are available “as customers continue to demand value to help them make their money go further”, they said.
The firm stated: “While Poundland offers amazing value on much wider ranges, it’s still the home of the pound with around a third of all its grocery items at that price or below.”
The company remains committed to offering a significant proportion of its ranges at £1 or below, even as it expands into new categories such as chilled and frozen food, homewares, and clothing, according to Wales Online.
Earlier this year, Poundland completed the introduction of new clothing and general merchandise ranges through parent company Pepco Group, reconfiguring its stores to offer more baby and childrenswear than ever before.
Since opening its first store in Burton-upon-Trent in 1990, Poundland has built a network of over 800 stores in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, offering top brands and great quality own brand products that provide customers with amazing value every day. It now employs around 18,000 colleagues who serve up to seven million customers every week.
Poundland, a popular high street retailer, offers a wide range of products from over 1,000 well-known brands across 17 shopping categories. These include food and drink, health and beauty, household items, gardening supplies, DIY tools, pet essentials, stationery, books, DVDs, and toys.
In addition to this, Poundland has introduced Pepco clothing in over 500 of its larger stores across the UK, providing affordable fashion for families.
Following its acquisition of Fultons Foods and an investment of £25m, Poundland now also provides chilled and frozen food in over 450 of its stores.
