Postecoglou press conference LIVE – Spurs boss on fragility, fans and transfers

Must read

Ange Postecoglou is speaking to the media on Friday ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s final Premier League game of the season at Sheffield United on Sunday.

Spurs need a single point to ensure they finish in fifth place in the Australian’s first campaign in charge and compete in Europa League football next season. The final whistle will also mark the first time Tottenham have had a manager complete a season at the club in the past half a decade, such has been the high turnover of coaches in N17.

Postecoglou was left furious after Tuesday night’s defeat to Manchester City which ended Spurs’ hopes of Champions League qualification, not by his players who put in a strong display, but with what he told football.london were ‘fragile foundations’ at the club and he said the issues were “inside, outside and everywhere” and that he would have to go back to the drawing board in some aspects and tweak others.

The Spurs boss also clashed with one fan behind the dugout at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the encounter and he is expected to speak about that as well as looking ahead to the summer transfer window and deliver an update on any fresh injuries following the midweek defeat.

Our Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold is among those putting the questions to Postecoglou ahead of the game against relegated United. Scroll down for his latest updates from the press conference at Hotspur Way.

The Spurs boss on whether he’s fixed the issues he spoke about the other night

No, not in two days. We’ve got some work to do. It’s clear and evident and that’s what we’ve got to focus on.

Postecoglou on his false nine set-up on Tuesday

There’s a misconception about me that I’ve got one plan. I’ve probably used every formation and system going over the years, usually many in a game.

Postecoglou on team news

There’s Gio Lo Celso, got a bit of a knock when he came on. Didn’t train today. We’ve still got to train again tomorrow.

Interesting stuff from Postecoglou

We just asked Postecoglou about how agitated he was on Tuesday night on the touchline and he admitted it was “probably the worst managerial experience of my life” as he was so concerned and anxious people would question his integrity if City won comfortably.

We’ve been speaking to Lucas Bergvall
