Popular Island shops to host celebration event with giveaways and competitions

Must read

A popular local chain of shops will host a Celebration Day next month to mark its 165th anniversary, with giveaways, competitions and in-store demonstrations.

W Hurst & Son was started by Charles Wheeler in 1859 as a foundry concentrating on agriculture implement manufacture, servicing and repair for the Island’s booming farming industry.

In 1886, Charles purchased 33 Holyrood Street in Newport, which remains the store’s flagship shop.

Since then, Hurst has opened five further branches across the Island, in Cowes, Freshwater, Ryde, Shanklin and Ventnor.

On June 1, all Hurst branches will celebrate with activities, giveaways and discounts for one day only.

The Celebration Day will include competitions to test your skills and win prizes, an opportunity to see products come to life with demonstrations throughout the day, and, at the Newport store, sample bite-sized creations prepared by a chef using Hurst kitchen appliances.

Hurst will also give away gifts throughout the day and offer exclusive savings on select products.

A spokesperson said: “We invite all our loyal customers to join us for the day, and if unable to visit, why not shop online, taking advantage of the one-day-only discounts!”
