Police have been pictured searching through thick undergrowth for a weapon used in a serious assault.
Officers were called to Strood railway station last night in a bid to find the item which had been “thrown trackside”.
British Transport Police and Network Rail workers assisted in the efforts to locate the weapon, which was found in the undergrowth.
British Transport Police posted pictures of the search on X this morning and wrote: “Last night our officers were called to #Strood to assist @kent_police with recovery of a weapon used in a serious assault.
“The weapon was thrown trackside and a search team from @kent_police found the item in thick undergrowth.
“We assisted with access along with @NetworkRailSE.”
It is not yet known what sort of weapon officers were searching for or if any arrests have been made.
Kent Police have been contacted for comment.
