The PlayStation 5 has a new system update to download, and it’s bringing some big changes to the console and its accessories.
You can download the update for free right now, and we’re going to go over some of the improvements below.
Check out the trailer for Astro Bot, which is only a few months away!
By far the biggest improvement this update makes is the improved performance stability of both software and DualSense wireless controllers.
This is something users have been asking for a lot over the last few months so it’s nice to see it finally being implemented.
There are also a few UI changes, like making messages easier to read when on-screen, though unfortunately we still don’t have the option to change the background theme of the PlayStation 5, despite it being one of the most highly requested features from fans.
Next you can use a voice command to bring up the Game Help menus, though this only works for English players at the time of writing.
Finally, another big change is how you can share your game session with other players, now possible through URLs.
In order to do this you simply need to open your game session and select the new Share Link option, then scan the QR with your phone and you’ll be able to share your invite as a link instead, but only for open game sessions, not private ones.
The latter feature isn’t fully available as of yet, but it’s said it’ll be available for all by 24 July, which is tomorrow.
It’s definitely a step in the right direction but there’s still a lot that fans are still waiting to receive.
One of the big ones is Discord streaming, which is possible on the Xbox Series X/S but yet to be made an official feature on PlayStation platforms.
The new update is available to download right now, provided you have an internet connection of course.
