Plastic surgeons explain Christina Aguilera’s new ‘fox-like face’

Must read

Pop superstar Christina Aguilera has been open in the past about her penchant for Botox while maintaining an air of subtlety in her look.

But fans are now noticing more drastic changes to the ‘Genie in a Bottle’ singer’s appearance, including a slim figure that could be tied to weight loss drugs like Wegovy, sculpted cheekbones, and lifted, fox-like eyes.

Cosmetic surgeons told DailyMail.com that over the years the singer has had expertly placed Botox to smooth wrinkles, filler in her lips, and a possible face lift to sculpt her face and lift her eyes.

Fillers have become exceedingly popular over the years, thanks in part to their celebrity fans, perhaps most notably the Kardashian/Jenner family.

According to the doctors who spoke with DailyMail.com on the topic, Aguilera has achieved a more natural look that sees her augmented features blend beautifully.

With a new look in 2023

Plastic surgeons told DailyMail.com that Aguilera has likely undergone a face lift to sculpt her cheekbones and smooth the lines between her nose and lips. She has also likely undergone filler there, as well as to her lips

Doctors have called the ‘Beautiful’ singer ‘ageless.’

Dr Michael Bassiri-Tehrani, a board-certified plastic surgeon in New York City, told DailyMail.com, ‘She looks incredible.

‘I think her face now looks a little bit more mature compared to 1999. She’s always had great mid-face volume, so her cheeks were always pretty full, and she had a very strong jawline and chin, which now looks even more, I would say, accentuated.’

The pop singer likely has enjoyed expertly-placed Botox or Dysport in her forehead and eye area to fine-tune her complexion and smooth out fine lines.

Botox and Dysport work by relaxing the muscles in the face that cause wrinkles, which smooths out the skin.

They aren’t a permanent fix for wrinkles, though. The effects last about three to four months.

Dr Bassiri-Tehrani added: ‘What’s really the difference is the upper third of her face, and she’s doing what a lot of people have been doing the last several years, which is making the brow more angular and stronger.

‘That’ll draw the eye and make it appear like there’s a little bit more of a fox-eye.’

More and more high-profile celebrities, including Kendall Jenner and Megan Fox, are sparking rumors that they have undergone a ‘fox eye lift’ to achieve the almond-shaped eyes.

Dr Thomas Barnes, a board-certified surgeon in Newport Beach, California, said she may have undergone a deep-plane facelift to lift her eyes.

The procedure is more advanced than a traditional facelift, and involves lifting and repositioning deep layers of facial tissue. This method avoids the dreaded artificial pulled look of some traditional facelifts.

He told DailyMail.com: ‘You’ll notice that the nasolabial folds in the picture are very flat, and the only way you can really change that is to have a deep plane facelift.

‘And you’ll notice in front of her tragus, which is in front of that left ear area, that looks like a little crease, which is very common after having had a facelift through that area.’

Dr. Brian Reagan, a plastic surgeon based in San Diego, California, noted that she doesn¿t have the typical folds between her nose and mouth, and suggested that filler might be involved. He made this comment while referring to a 2016 photo of Aguilera dressed in a Rosie the Riveter-inspired outfit

Dr. Brian Reagan, a plastic surgeon based in San Diego, California, noted that she doesn’t have the typical folds between her nose and mouth, and suggested that filler might be involved. He made this comment while referring to a 2016 photo of Aguilera dressed in a Rosie the Riveter-inspired outfit

He said the side of her eyes appears elevated by several millimeters, her cheeks are higher, and her nasal-labial folds—the vertical lines that form between the bottom of the nose and the lips—are smoothed out.

Dr Brian Reagan, a plastic surgeon in San Diego, California echoed Dr Barnes’ take though added that filler could also be at play, referring to a 2016 photo of Aguilera in a Rosie the Riveter-style ensemble.

He added that her top lip is more heart-shaped than when she was younger.

Her upper lip has a slight upward turn, which can be achieved with Botox, often referred to as a ‘lip flip,’ to enhance the lip’s appearance and add volume.

The image of her wearing the red bandana is a good example of that technique, Dr Reagan said. Additionally, her lower lip appears fuller, especially in the center.

Comparing these photos, it seems likely that she’s had lip filler, and it looks well done, as her upper lip was quite thin in the photos of her from the 90s and early 2000s.

In it, he said he could notice a lack of some of the lines of facial distinction, specifically the nasolabial fold, also known as smile lines or laugh lines.

Dr Reagan said: ‘That sometimes is associated with overuse of filler. I can’t comment for sure, but it looks like she her facial volume has increased.’

Before the fame

As a star

Dr Thomas Barnes, a board-certified surgeon in Newport Beach, California, said Aguilera has likely had surgery to reduce the roundness at the tip of her nose. Doctors can achieve this look by shaving the cartilage down on the sides of the tip of her nose

Dr Barnes said she also appears to have had at least one procedure to reduce bulbosity or roundness, at the tip of her nose by shaving down the sides.

He added: ‘She’s had a nose job, but it’s very subtle, giving her a more pointed look to her nose and a slimmer look. Her nostrils are different, and they’re a little bit thinner. The width of the nose is less.’

Her lips are also considerably fuller than when her career took off, suggesting to Dr Smita Ramanadham that she has received strategically placed fuller on the sides and centers of her upper and lower lips to plump them.

She said: ‘Obviously she is overlining [her lips] in that photograph, but if you actually look at the lip itself, there’s volume throughout.

‘You can sort of use fillers in a very intricate way to sort of augment certain areas versus not. But I think for her, she definitely had an overall augmentation of the area.’

Aguilera has said she prizes maintaining expressiveness in her face. Women rarely enter plastic surgeons’ offices with the request to look constantly frozen and surprised.

Christina Aguilera has stunned fans lately with her weight loss. Plastic surgeons said this likely played a role in changing her face, such as by making it more angular

Dr Craig Blum, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Charleston, South Carolina, echoed Dr Ramanadham’s take, saying that Botox gives Aguilera ‘A more youthful look while maintaining expressiveness.’

Microblading the brows is also an exceedingly popular way to lift the eyes by creating realistic hairlike strokes by using semi-permanent tattoo ink.

Aguilera’s cheekbones are high, further accentuated by her almond-shaped eyes. Losing weight is among the most effective means of achieving defined cheekbones, and Aguilera has been rumored to have used Ozempic or Wegovy to shed pounds.

Dr Rukmini Rednam, a Houston-based plastic surgeon, said the singer’s sculpted face is more likely thanks to a combination of healthy weight loss and non-invasive treatments with some more minor procedures.

The star has appeared slimmer than she has in years in recent social media posts, following a period of weight gain starting in the early 2010s.

She told DailyMail.com: ‘As an expert in post-weight loss treatments, I’ve seen firsthand the power that weight loss must change a face.

‘In addition to comparing a photo of her from her youth to adulthood, there are benefits to aging, a more defined face and womanlier vs childlike features that occur naturally.’
