In exciting news, the Olympic Torch will be coming along La Croisette during the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Below we have put together some essential information about its route and how it may impact your travel on Tuesday 18th June.
ROUTE
The Olympic Torch relay route will start at the Cannes Town Hall to finish at Mouré Rouge, travelling on the road South Croisette (beach side). The Palais Red Carpet steps is the first stop – arriving there at approximately 11:45am
It is planned to go past the LBB & Friends Beach at approximately 12:05pm
TRAVEL
Both Croisette sidewalks will be open, but there will only be intermittent crossing points from Croisette North to South between 10.00am-1.00pm, which could cause BIG delays for anyone walking down or travelling down from apartments / hotels north of the Croisette etc. Please note crossing of the street is prohibited during the passing of the Olympic Flame too.
Our advice is to get beachside EARLY if you can and prepare for crowds until 2pm.
If you are coming to us from Le Palais, ensure you exit beachside and please note Security Checkpoint 7 will be closed for all delegates during this but all other checkpoints will remain open.
You will not be able to get taxis down La Croisette so ensure you make time to walk to the LBB & Friends beach if you’re planning to join us. On a normal day it is between 15 – 20 minutes walk from Le Palais to the LBB & Friends Beach (Opposite La Palais Miramar and between Rado Plage and Miramar Plage) so assume this could take upwards of 30 minutes with crowds.
