‘Perfect weekend’ travel backpack is £120 cheaper than Antler

Must read

The Chelsea backpack is one of luggage brand Antler’s best-loved bags, but travellers can find similar high-end quality backpacks for a fraction of the price. Reduced from £24.46 to £19.99 on Amazon, this ‘stylish’ backpack is a firm choice if you’re looking to save. In fact, it’s £120 cheaper than the Antler option retailing for £140.

Antler’s Chelsea backpack has been applauded for the padded laptop pocket and handy number of compartments, and the purse-friendly Amazon alternative boasts similar features for a cut of the cost. The multi-function backpack is separated into pockets to provide ‘roomy’ space for your belongings. It also has elasticated side pockets to hold items you want easy access to such as a water bottle or an umbrella.

If you’re someone who travels with electricals, a nifty USB charging port extends on the side of the backpack with a built-in a charging cable inside, so you can charge your phone while on-the-go. Much like the Chelsea backpack, it’s also made from a water resistant material and comes in several colourways, however it is the black version that is on offer for £19.99.

The Amazon backpack comes in at 19 x 30 x 43cm, making it an ideal size to slot under a plane seat or have on your back while commuting. It also fits within hand luggage size allowance for Jet2, EasyJet and Ryanair. Shoppers describe it as ‘really lightweight’ so it’s little wonder it is such a ‘comfortable’ option, plus it won’t interfere with any baggage weight restrictions.

One happy customer wrote a review on Amazon, saying: “Needed a bag that I could use as hand luggage on the plane but would also be secure whilst away. This was perfect, really light weight, opens really wide at the top for easy access, loads of internal pockets for sorting. The additional little strap that holds the handles together is a great security feature as it difficult to open the bag when this is clasped shut. Also have to mention the padded straps so comfortable on your back. So happy with it that my mum ordered one the holiday too.”

As well as using for trips, shoppers are praising it as a ‘great bag for office workers’. Another person said: “I have been using this bag for the past week and it has been great. I travel around for work, which I usually drive for, however have swapped to public transport and didn’t want to be seen with a laptop bag (I don’t live in the best of areas!).This bag has been great, it fits so much in there, it’s like a Mary Poppins bag! I love the USB port charger too, game changer for sure! The bag is supportive and looks trendy, I don’t think I will go back to a normal laptop case now I have used this.”

While some said the backpack looks ‘very chic’, others weren’t’ so keen on the design. A disappointed user wrote: “This is a nice bag with plenty of storage space, I really like the wide opening at the top. However, I have decided to return it as I am really not keen on the large white brand label on the front, it stands out like a sore thumb and completely ruins the look of what could have been a really smart bag.”

You can purchase the Chelsea backpack from the Antler website here or you can nab the Amazon alternative for £19.99 here. Antler are also running a sale where shoppers can save 20% when they spend £225. The Icon Large Suitcase is typically £245, but the offer takes it down to £196.

Elsewhere, stylish luggage brand Away have released a new line inspired by summer-ready colours. The Spritz Carry-on Bag has over 10,000 five star reviews and the limited edition print means it’ll stand out from the crowd when searching for it at the baggage carousel post-flight.
