Foodies confess to travelling miles to try a Liverpool food stall with “mouth watering” dishes.

Locals and travellers alike have commented on the delicious food available at Polpetta, as it celebrates a year of being in business. The Italian kitchen, which is based in the Baltic Market, is co-owned by Liverpool’s very own UFC flyweight super star, Molly ‘Meatball’ McCann.

‌

The 34-year-old, who now stars in a BBC documentary series alongside friend Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett, opened Polpetta alongside Joel McCarthy. Despite being open for just 12 months, it’s already became known as one of the best independent traders in the city, attracting hundreds of people to the Baltic Market every day.

Commenting on Polpetta celebrating its one year anniversary this July, Molly shared that she’d been blown away by the support it has received. She said: “What a year it’s been for the team. I’d personally like to thank everyone who’s come to support the restaurant, enjoyed the scran, the parties, the pop ups, the collabs and helped mine and Joel McCarthy’s passion project thrive.

“Me and Joel would be nothing without our chefs – our chefs just do it different, they make mine and Joel’s life a lot easier and make sure every single plate that leaves the kitchen is full of that Scouse Italian love. And all the discos in between. Joel love you forever, no one in the world I’d rather do this with than you.”

@Cjay1812 said: “Any chance of delivering that to Newcastle for me?! I will have to travel to the Mersey, there’s nothing else for it!! This food just looks too DAMN GOOD!!”

Another @jrkayakin added: “Can’t wait to try it out in June our first trip to the UK.” @Mackinnon_lorna commented: “Will be travelling down from Scotland and as always heading to Baltic market, and this is definitely a bit of me.”

@Jodie_m83 said: “I’m sick of saying I need to go here my mouths watering.” And @Ants_artwork added: “Polpetta’s lasagne deserved an award. I’ve had it a few times but the short rib version I had last night at The Baltic Market was incredible. I typically don’t order lasagne but this is another level.”

The authentic Italian restaurant covering all of the classics from spaghetti and meatballs (spaghetti Polpetta), to lasagne, chicken parm, stacked focaccias and more. Polpetta is the Italian word for meatball, which is a fitting name for a restaurant co-owned by the Scouse meatball herself.

Customers can try out Polpetta at the Baltic Market from Wednesday to Sunday. It’s also available on Uber Eats.
