Whether or not you’re a fan of the Fortnight hit maker, the energy around the city, the stadium and with fans is palpable. Swifties who had tickets for the tour, and were able to pick up merch on concert days, still made a point to visit the queues just to be a part of something special.
The Eras Tour has an undeniable impact on Liverpool’s global image as fans from around the world are flying into the city. Josè and Carla are two fans who travelled more than 5,000 miles from Guatemala to watch the tour.
Locked in with VIP tickets, Jose said: “We’re seeing her tomorrow and are so excited. We came all the way from Guatemala just for her concert.” Another fan travelled more than 10,000 miles from Brisbane to watch the show but made a stop off at today’s event just to pick up some shirts.
People of all ages joined the queues and basked in the community atmosphere. The last time an event brought together so many people from various backgrounds was the Eurovision Song Contest.
Walton native Paul Harrison, who queued with his daughter Leyla, rearranged his work pattern to a later shift just to be able to call into the store. He said: “The extra stuff like this makes everything a bit more exciting. Taylor’s never been to [performed in] Liverpool and she may never come again so why not enjoy it.”
More than 150,000 fans are expected to descend on Liverpool for the sold out shows. Taylor is set to perform an epic three-and-a-half-hour show, with 44 songs from albums and eras including Lover, Fearless, Reputation and 1989. Today’s early merch day event wraps at 8pm so be sure to get down as soon as possible while stocks last.
On show days, merchandise will be available from 10am. For those with VIP merchandise included in their ticket that has not been delivered to their home address prior to the concert, you can collect your merchandise from The Kop Bar which is located off Walton Breck Road.
