As we approach the summer months and a lot of families head away for a sunny getaway, we hear more and more about travel etiquette.
And on social media sites such as Reddit and Facebook, they can be a pretty divisive topic too.
However, one particular airline that was once a thing took a very relaxed outlet on travel etiquette.
In fact, the airline, which launched a one-off flight in 2003, offered a very unique experience for flyers.

I mean, we’ve all heard of nudist beaches, and they are very popular amongst certain communities.
But a nudist flight? Well, that’s surely a step too far, right?
You say that, but a flight that took to the skies in 2003 offered a rather pleasurable experience for nudist enthusiasts.
Running between Miami and Cancun, Mexico, the unique flight was set up by Castaways Travel – and of course garnered a lot of media attention in the process.
Taking off in May 2003, the Federal Aviation Administration refused to weigh in on the matter as they stated flying nude is not a ‘safety issue’.
So, how exactly did the naked part work?
Well, as you’d probably expect passengers had to remain fully clothed in the airport as they checked in and went through security.

I mean, the last thing a family of five wants to see as they jet off to Europe is a bunch of naked enthusiasts.
Even when the passengers got comfy on the aircraft they had to remain fully clothed, and it wasn’t until the plane reached cruising altitude that everyone could take their clothes off.
Well, not everyone exactly as the pilot had to remain fully clothed at all times.
90 passengers were permitted on the Naked Air service, all of which paid $499 for the privilege.
Regular flyers will know that aircrafts are pretty chilly too, so special accommodations were made to ensure cabins were kept at a warm temperature.

All passengers received a towel to prevent their bare bottom from touching the seat, after their clothes were placed in the overhead bins or under the seats.
No hot drinks were served on the flight to prevent any dangerous accidents… obviously.
And as for the one question you are all likely asking, the nude flight did not permit passengers to join the mile high club.
The Naked Air flight was only one flight, despite all the attention it received back in the day.
People online can’t believe their ears, with one penning: “the smell… ugh,” as another said: “Nudists are never the people you want to see naked.”
And a third jokingly said: “Oh my, hope the seats were cleaned (or burned) afterwards.”
