Sir Rod Stewart’s wife returned to social media and shared a heartwarming family photo days after the rock icon expressed deep regret he would be unable to perform.

The Maggie May performer, 79, was set to perform at his 200th Las Vegas show but just hours before he took to the stage he faced a devastating health blow.

In a heartfelt message to his fans, he said: “Most people can work with strep throat but obviously not me.”

He added: “I’m absolutely gutted. I’ve been looking forward to this concert for so long. My deepest regrets for any inconvenience this has caused. Thankfully we’ll now be returning in 2025 and I hope to see you all there.”

Taking to Instagram on August 17 Penny shared a heartwarming family photo which she captioned: “Happy Memories.”

The sweet post was originally shared by the couple’s daughter-in-law Nicola, who is married to Rod’s son Liam Stewart.

The family looked radiant as Rod put on an animated display in the centre of the snap where donned a white blazer paired with pinstriped trousers.

He crouched down beside his eldest son Sean Stewart.

The duo were accompanied by Rod’s wife Penny who put on a glamorous display and the couple’s two sons Alastair and Aiden.

Also in the photo was Rod’s daughters Ruby and Renee Stewart.

Just last month, the legendary singer confessed that he doesn’t let the fear of death consume his life as he approaches his 80th birthday next year.

Despite acknowledging that his “days are numbered,” he remains determined to live his remaining years to the fullest.

In an interview with The Sun Rod said that he’s going to continue his partying ways in the final years of his life.

“I’m aware my days are numbered but I’ve got no fear,” he said.

“We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket,” Stewart continued. “I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can. I say few — probably another 15. I can do that easy mate, easy.”

However, the father of eight, who has survived both prostate and thyroid cancer, said he’s “more aware of my health now than before”.
