Pamana, a fashion and cultural showcase spearheaded by ArteFino and the Filipino Heritage Festival Inc, took place on May 29 at the Manila Polo Club

ArteFino and the Filipino Heritage Festival Inc (FHFI) are ensuring ways to maintain the integrity of our traditional customs. As National Heritage Month wraps up, the two organisations partnered for a fundraiser and fashion and cultural show, Pamana: Woven Legacies in Fashion & Dance, on May 29 at the Manila Polo Club.

This endeavour promotes Filipino heritage while keeping the practice of Filipino artisanship alive and flourishing. The event’s proceeds will be dedicated to developing HeArteFino, an initiative devoted to nurturing artisan communities.

The programme was penned under the direction of the late playwright Floy Quintos. It consisted of stylish tributes to cultures specific to each of the three major islands of the Philippines: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Models walked to lively folk music while donning a selection of distinctly Filipino clothing, lent by 16 of ArteFino’s featured designers and brands, including Bayo Atelier, Camille Villanueva, Ditta Sandico, Edited Limited x Adante, Jo Ann Bitagcol, Jor-El Espina, Lulu Tan Gan, Maison Métisse, NIñofranco, Patis Tesoro, Patty Eustaquio x Bayo Atelier for HeArteFino, Rhett Eala, Steph Verano, Tagpi, Trude Lizares, and WYC (Wear Your Culture).

These showcases are juxtaposed with contemporary dance performances by the University of the East Silangan Dance Troupe and Manila Polo Club’s resident Danspace Ballet School. The latter’s founder, Maritoni Rufino Tordesillas, explained in a press release, “We are honoured that we can do our part in bringing our culture and heritage to the forefront through our dancing.”
