Outlander fans have been sent into a frenzy after footage emerged of the hit Starz series reportedly filming at the show’s iconic Craigh na Dun location in Scotland.
The famous stones are crucial to the series as they allow Claire Fraser (played by Caitriona Balfe) and other characters to travel through time.
They made an appearance at the end of the latest season when Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) and Brianna Fraser’s (Sophie Skelton) son Jemmy (Blake Johnston Miller) was kidnapped by Rob Cameron (Chris Fulton).
Footage from TikToker willsadventures2025 appears to reveal filming is taking place at the recognisable location again, either for season seven, part two reshoots or for scenes in the upcoming eighth and final season. He claims Outlander was filming, but admits he was kicked off the set when security realised he wasn’t part of the production crew.
Although no cast members were seen, the area surrounding the stones was full of parked cars and trailers, one of which was emblazoned with the Movie Makers logo, a vehicle supply company that has previously provided transportation for the series.
Filming for season eight began earlier this year, so it’s possible the Frasers’ final adventures will involve more time travel.
Outlander fans are buzzing with speculation as intriguing new footage has them convinced the final episodes might tie back to Jamie’s ghost’s mysterious appearance in the first season.
“I think we will 100% get the forget me nots in some way,” one fan voiced on Reddit, referencing the enigmatic flowers surrounding the stones which many believe are hidden clues about the series finale.
Another chimed in: “Right!! They have to resolve the ghost thing in some way!!”
Some suggested that the stones might play a significant role in the show’s final run as Diana Gabaldon’s book series is still unfinished, implying the TV series could create its own unique conclusion.
“It could be a flashback, a departure point for Bree et al to return, a new scene written just for the show,” one user theorised.
“Don’t forget the show ending will be show created, not Diana’s. There are many possibilities.”
More theories abound, with fans pondering potential elements leading to the upcoming prequel, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, delving into the backstory of Jamie’s parents.
“I’m curious to see whether they try to set up the prequel universe in S8 and how they do so,” one enthusiast commented.
“They’re clearly using Roger’s plot in 7B as a bit of a jumping off point but otherwise very little of the upcoming plot has anything to do with the prequel characters and their lives.
“But maybe they’ll find a way to tie the ending to the prequel somehow? Go heavy on the flashbacks? Or extend Roger’s stay into S8?”
Despite the speculation, nothing in the video confirms if filming is indeed taking place there for Outlander’s eighth season, so fans will just have to wait to see if their theories come true.
Outlander season 7, part 2 premieres Friday, November 22 on Starz.
