Oppo has unveiled a new camera shutter button feature for its upcoming Find X8 series, closely resembling the recently announced Camera Control button on Apple‘s iPhone 16 lineup.
Oppo Find series product manager Zhou Yibao demonstrated the new “Quick Capture” button in a video posted on Chinese social media platform Weibo. The pressure-sensitive button allows users to quickly launch the camera app with a double-tap and capture photos without pressing hard.Additionally, users can control zoom levels by swiping on the button, mirroring functionality seen in Apple’s implementation.

Oppo's Find X8 series will have the iPhone 16-like Camrera Control, which the Oppo is calling Quick Capture button

The Quick Capture button is designed to enhance underwater photography, as it enables users to take pictures and adjust zoom when touchscreen controls are inaccessible. Oppo claims the feature will work fully submerged, showcasing its effectiveness in challenging environments.
While physical camera buttons aren’t new to smartphones, Oppo’s implementation closely follows Apple’s recent implementation. The timing of this reveal is shortly after the iPhone 16 announcement.
The Find X8 series, expected to launch later this month, is rumoured to feature a quad-camera system with four 50MP sensors on its Pro model. This setup may include both 3x and 6x periscope zoom lenses, potentially making it a strong contender in the mobile photography market.
