A pedestrian has died and two people are critically ill following weekend road incidents in Donegal, Fermanagh and Derry.
A man, named locally as James ‘Jimmy’ McKenna, lost his life after he was struck by a car near Moville in Inishowen during the early hours of Sunday.
Gardaí said he was struck by a car in Ballynally at around 1.30am.
The Buncrana man, who was aged in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car was taken to hospital for assessment.
Mr McKenna was the son of Donegal Ladies Gaelic Football Association county secretary, Michelle McKenna.
The county board announced the suspension of all LGFA activities in Donegal as a mark of respect.
Meanwhile a woman in her 20s is in a critical condition in hospital after she was involved in a road collision in Aghadowey, Co Derry.
She was driving a black BMW 3 Series when it was in collision with a blue flatbed Scania lorry in Glenkeen Road.
The incident happened at around 3.20am on Saturday.
Police are also investigating a Friday evening crash in Kesh, Co Fermanagh that left a teenager critically ill.
The PSNI received a report shortly after 6pm on Friday of a collision involving a silver Peugeot 207 HDI Sport and a blue Honda Accord.
Crews from the Fire and Rescue Service, Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance Service were called to the scene in Letterboy Road.
The driver of the Peugeot, an 18-year-old man, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police said he remains in a critical condition.
A 44-year-old man who was driving the Honda was taken to hospital for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
The road was closed for a time but reopened to all traffic on Saturday morning.
A PSNI spokesman said an investigation is under way to establish what happened.
“We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage to contact police on 101,” he added.
