Oakes Energy Services creates new jobs as demand for renewable solutions rises

North East renewable energy specialist has created new jobs as demand for its services grows.

Oakes Energy Services, which specialises in design, supply, installation of renewable energy solutions, has created 13 jobs in tandem with rising workloads across two main divisions. Eight of the new recruits have joined the commercial PV solar team, while the remaining five have joined the the ground source heat pump division, which has seen huge growth on the back of advancements in technologies, and growing availability of grants for businesses .




The company, based in Houghton le Spring, Tyne and Wear, forms part of the PHS group which now has more than 270 members of staff, and was part of the Pacifica Group until it was sold in 2022. The team currently has more than 30mW of solar PV currently in development and access to combined PPA (power purchase agreement) funds of over £500m, and as the pipeline becomes stronger every week, the expanded team will help Oakes Energy to build greater market share and geographic presence.

  • The team has recently completed a solar PV project at the Cambridge ice arena, allowing it to start multi-site roll outs for clients including Northern Gas Networks, Northumberland Estates and Greggs.

    The PHS Group is made up of Oakes Energy and 0800 Repair, which installs and maintains renewable energy systems while reducing carbon footprints and energy bills.
