Acclaimed director Robert Eggers is back with his latest period horror. This time around he’s remaking Nosferatu, the 100 year old silent vampire classic.
Pennywise actor Bill Skarsgård stars as the undead Count Orlok in the upcoming awards season contender.
Joining the cast are Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney and Willem Dafoe.
The latter famously played original Nosferatu actor Max Schreck in 2000’s Shadow of the Vampire, a fictionalised account of the making of the 1922 film.
The film’s official synopsis reads: “Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake.”
The movie’s title breaks the director’s trend of naming his films The ‘something’ after The Witch, The Lighthouse and The Northman.
When Express.co.uk interviewed the filmmaker we suggested The Vampyre and at the time he said: “Yeah that’s a good one, there you go.”
Nosferatu hits UK cinemas on January 3, 2025.
