Building on the success of phase one, “Job Transition Pathways” is entering the second phase of the research project. It’s a joint effort between the Dais research Team at Toronto Metropolitan University and the NL Workforce Innovation Centre (NLWIC). Director Sharon Mclennon says the NLWIC wants to build on their research concerning the labour market. She McLennon says one these pathways have been identified work can be done to upskill and train workers for the new economy. Stafanovic-Chafe says they’re presently consulting with stakeholders like industry representatives, training institutions, employers, and job seekers. The research group is currently conducting interviews and will be issuing surveys for workers, while trying to represent all groups who are underemployed or tradionally in low paying positions.
