THE Legend of Zelda is one of Nintendo’s flagship series, and Breath of the Wild is just one of the reasons the Switch has been so successful.
Since then we’ve seen the sequel, Tears of the Kingdom, alongside other remakes such as Skyward Sword and Link’s Awakening for Nintendo Switch.
During the June Nintendo Direct the company dropped the bombshell that an all-new Zelda game would be released in September starring Princess Zelda in the lead role.
The footage shown during the Direct was just a few minutes long, but Nintendo has just released a second trailer with five minutes of gameplay footage.
Following the first trailer players believed The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom would be similar to the Link’s Awakening remake as it uses the same art style.
However, the second trailer reveals it will borrow its game design more from Breath of the Wild than traditional top-down Zelda games.
Fans also initially speculated that the map would be similar to A Link to the Past or A Link Between Worlds, but the new trailer shows that it’s a whole new world.
Not only will it feature a new map, but a number of the gameplay features will be similar to those found in people’s favourite game from the series.
Zelda will be able to ride a horse, something rarely seen in top-down Zelda titles, and like in Breath of the Wild it can help her over difficult terrain.
She can also leave the horse in one place and later call it to her, much like Link can.
One of the hallmarks of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are Link’s new powers that allow him to do things like connect objects together, or teleport above him.
Zelda will also receive powers like this – the first one, the ability to copy objects, was revealed in the original trailer.
The new trailer shows that Zelda will also be able to bind objects, meaning she can make them follow her, or bond to objects, meaning she will follow them.
This is very interesting as it will give players more ways that they can move around the world and complete puzzles.
There is also a cooking mechanic where Zelda can trade in ingredients to make smoothies, which will give you various buffs.
