THERE were rumours that Nintendo would drop a Nintendo Direct before the end of August, including gaming announcements for the upcoming Nintendo Switch library.
People were giving up hope as the month came to a close, but Nintendo dropped a surprise last-minute announcement for an August showcase.
Nintendo will be holding a double bill, including a Nintendo Direct and an Indie World Showcase.
The Nintendo Direct will be held today (Wednesday, August 27, 2024) at 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm UK time.
Nintendo hasn’t announced anything that will be revealed in the showcase, but there are a number of games that are expected to appear.
Publisher THQ Nordic tweeted that fans should be prepared for more news on Epic Mickey: Rebrushed.
The tweet reads: “Didn’t get the chance to play Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed at Gamescom 2024? Stay tuned.”
As the tweet suggests that people will have their own chance to play, fans believe that a demo for Epic Mickey will be announced and perhaps released during the Nintendo Direct.
Another game that is likely to appear during the Direct is a Nintendo Switch version of the 3DS and Wii classic MySims.
People noticed that a number of European retailers have listings for a Nintendo Switch version of MySims, with an expected November release.
We are also expecting some announcement for the Call of Duty franchise on the Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo signed a 10-year deal with Xbox to bring upcoming Call of Duty games to Nintendo consoles.
While Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on October 25, we haven’t heard anything about a Nintendo version.
As the Switch isn’t as powerful as the other consoles we expect an announcement that either Call of Duty Mobile will come to Switch or that there will be a cloud version of Black Ops 6 will come to the console.
The final announcement that we are expecting is a release date for Lego Horizons.
Announced earlier this year, the release date for Lego Horizons was leaked on the PlayStation Store meaning that the announcement is likely coming.
The store page claims that it will launch on November 14, and with this timing, we expect the release date will be made official during the Nintendo Direct.
These are all of the announcements we are expecting, but there will be dozens more we don’t know about.
