Nigel Farage triumphed at the public-voted TRIC Awards for the second year in a row. The Reform UK leader scooped the award for Best News Presenter, beating stiff competition from nominees Susanna Reid, Matt Chorley and fellow GB News star Eamonn Holmes.

The politician, 60, attended the ceremony at the swanky Grosvenor House London on Tuesday afternoon. He accepted his award wearing a royal blue suit over a white shirt and red patterned tie.

Nigel, who presents a prime-time show on GB News, wasn’t the only winner for the broadcaster as GB News Breakfast – hosted by Eamonn and Isabel Webster – won the Best News award over BBC Breakfast, BBC News at Six and Good Morning Britain.

Alastair Stewart revealing his dementia diagnosis to Camilla Tominey on the channel also won Interview of the Year.

Nigel was booed as he took to the stage to give his acceptance speech. He told the crowd: “Just think about it, GB News Breakfast has won, the Camilla Tominey interview with Alastair Stewart has won, and I’ve won for the second year in a row as News Presenter of the Year.

“That says to you, GB News is here to stay as a mainstream broadcaster.”

Undeterred by the boos from the audience, Nigel quipped that they weren’t as bad as the boos he received last year.

Another big winner at the annual awards was Ken Bruce who picked up three trophies for Radio Personality, Radio Programme and Daytime. His triumph comes less than a year after he left the BBC and moved to Greatest Hits Radio.

ITV’s The Chase won Best Game Show, Strictly Come Dancing got the Entertainment award while Mr Bates vs The Post Office took home two gold statues for Factual and Drama.

The Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla was recognised for Live Event and That Peter Crouch Podcast was voted Best Podcast.

Earlier in the day, Nigel reportedly stormed off the TRIC Awards red carpet after a journalist posed a question about the infamous milkshake incident while the Reform UK candidate was campaigning in Clacton, Essex.

Speaking to press, including Express.co.uk, Nigel was asked: “Are you deterred after the whole milkshake scenario?”

Nigel replied that being drenched in milkshake is “not much fun”. The interviewer then probed whether the incident was a hoax, to which he refused to answer and walked off.
