Nicolo Fagioli has been named in Italy’s final squad for Euro 2024 despite only recently returning from a seven-month ban for gambling violations.
The Juventus midfielder was included in Italy’s provisional squad shortly after he made his return to action.
Fagioli was suspended in October and had to undergo treatment for a gambling addiction. He was also fined £10,850.
He made his return to action in Juventus’ 3-3 draw against Bologna on May 20.
Italy boss Luciano Spalletti has cut three players from his squad – Bologna winger Riccardo Orsolini, Torino midfielder Samuele Ricci and Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel.
There are two Premier League players in the squad – Arsenal midfielder Jorginho and Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
Italy go into the tournament as holders after beating England on penalties at Wembley in the final of Euro 2020.
The Azzurri have won the tournament twice in total, with their other previous success coming in 1968.
Italy are in Group B at the tournament and will take on Albania, Spain and Croatia.
Defenders Francesco Acerbi and Giorgio Scalvini were named in the provisional squad but had to withdraw from injury shortly afterwards.
