Brighton and Newcastle have agreed a £30million fee for starlet Yankuba Minteh, talkSPORT understands.

Newcastle have been keen to sell Minteh, who spent last season on loan at Feyenoord, to meet strict Profit and Sustainability rule regulations.

The Magpies have given permission to the Gambia international to speak to Brighton, who will now fly in to speak to the south coast club.

And they have negotiated a fee to see Brighton break their club-record transfer, set last year by Joao Pedro who joined from Watford for just under £30m.

Minteh, who has never played a game for the Magpies, looks set to join the Seagulls for a fee just north of that.

Newcastle have looked to offload the 19-year-old before June 30, which marks the end of the financial year in the Premier League and has had clubs rushing to meet the PSR deadlines.

Making this sale will allow Newcastle to keep hold of their star trio Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimares and Anthony Gordon, who had been linked with moves away to settle the club’s PSR problems.

There was plenty of interest in Minteh over the past four weeks following a stunning campaign under Arne Slot – Liverpool’s new manager.

In 27 Eredivisie matches on loan at Feyenoord, the wonderkid scored 11 times and was a huge part of the side that won the KNVB Cup.

Everton were interested in the youngster, as well as Lyon, Marseille, Borussia Dortmund and Roma.

But Minteh was only interested in staying in the Premier League and the deal suits all parties.

The Gambia international only signed last summer at Newcastle from Danish club Odense Boldklub.

However, he was loaned out immediately to Feyenoord where he became a key player.

Brighton are keen to bring in reinforcements and back their new manager Fabian Hurzeler, who has replaced Roberto De Zerbi.

The 31-year-old is also desperate to keep two key players, who have been linked with moves to Germany.
