The controversial new Mercedes-AMG C63 S E-Performance has been given a Brabus makeover with a shedload of carbon fibre and some more power.
- New Brabus 730 revealed
- Tuned version of the Mercedes-AMG C63 S E-Performance
- Subtle styling upgrades over that car
- 50hp increase and 100Nm more torque
- Lowered, stiffened suspension
- Minor interior upgrades
This is the new Brabus 730, and it’s a tuned version of the Mercedes-AMG C63 S. The AMG purists will be sad to learn that Brabus hasn’t shoehorned a V8 engine under the bonnet, but the 2.0-litre hybrid setup does have some extra power.
The 730 has also been given some styling upgrades, including a lot of carbon fibre parts, as well as uprated suspension and some interior tweaks.
New Brabus 730 design
Brabus usually has a reputation for going completely bonkers in the styling department, but the new 730 is actually quite restrained by its usual outlandish standards.
You get a new lower bumper with some larger air intakes, as well as a Brabus-exclusive grille. You can have this finished in either matte grey or exposed carbon fibre, depending on how much you feel like showing off.
The 21-inch forged alloy wheels are also unique to the Brabus 730, and you get adjustable suspension so you can lower the ride height for a more aggressive stance. Things are finished off at the rear with a deeper diffuser, which can also be had in bare carbon fibre.
New Brabus 730 engine and performance
It wouldn’t be a Brabus if the new 730 didn’t have a dose of extra power over the standard AMG C63 S. Sadly it doesn’t come from a V8 engine, but Brabus has tuned the 2.0-litre four-cylinder in the standard car.
This was already the most powerful four-cylinder engine in the world, but thanks to a tune it now puts out an additional 50hp and 100Nm of torque, taking it up to 525hp and 645Nm of torque. This is before you add in the hybrid system as well, which boosts power to a mighty 720hp.
The result of this added shove is 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds, 0.2 of a second quicker than the standard car. The top speed is electronically limited to 174mph.
New Brabus 730 interior
Rounding out the Brabus upgrades you have some tweaks to the C63’s cabin, although just like the exterior these are much more subtle compared to other models.
Cars like the Brabus Rocket GTS and Rocket R get a completely re-trimmed interior with higher-quality leather and bespoke quilting, whereas the 730 just has the option of illuminated aluminium kickplates, metal gear shift paddles and aluminium pedal covers. You also get upgraded velour floor mats.
New Brabus 730: how much is it?
Brabus hasn’t actually said how much the 730 will cost yet, but you can expect it to be quite a lot more than the standard AMG C63 E-Performance. That car starts from around £100,000, so expect the Brabus to have a price tag closer to £150,000.
