New BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe looks sharp in leaked images | Carbuyer

Must read

There are no pictures of the interior of the new 2 Series Gran Coupe but it’s safe to assume that it will be carried over from the 1 Series, like the outgoing car. That would mean an entirely new dashboard and centre console layout, with BMW’s latest curved display panel. This consists of a 10.25-inch screen for the driver and a 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen, which is used for controlling everything from media to cabin temperature.

We expect the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe to share its engines with the new 1 Series, too. That would include two petrol models badged 220 and M235 – BMW has dropped the ‘i’ suffix from its petrol-powered cars. The 220 is expected to replace the entry-level 218i, coming with a 168bhp three-cylinder engine. The M235 – shown in these leaked images – will be designed for performance, getting a healthier 296bhp from its four-cylinder engine, along with four-wheel drive.

Diesel engines were dropped from the current 2 Series Gran Coupe in 2023 and there’s little hope of them returning for this update.

How much will the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe cost?

As this is an unofficial leak and not a BMW-sanctioned unveiling, we have little in the way of confirmed information, including price. Given that the current 2 Series Gran Coupe starts from just over £33,000, we wouldn’t be surprised if the new model costs nearer to £35,000. More details will be revealed following its official reveal, which is expected to happen later this year.
