A NEW $20billion (£16.3billion) beachfront resort attraction is set to open in Egypt.
The new SouthMED project is to become a “global destination on the southern Mediterranean”.
It hopes to take on other popular hotspots across Greece, Italy and Cyprus.
Set along the North Coast shoreline, the attraction will stretch across 23millon square metres, with six zones.
This includes 2,000 hotel rooms, as well as a huge lagoon-front villas.
A large international marina will welcome both small boats and larger yachts.
Entertainment facilities will include 18-hole golf courses, sports centres and shopping centres with dining areas.
Tourists can also make the most of the 8km beach, with lagoons to swim in as well.

A video, with Rocky star Sylvester Stallone as the brand ambassador, has revealed what tourists can expect.
Hisham Talaat Mostafa, CEO and managing director of the group, it “will compete with the largest tourist resorts on the Mediterranean.”
And Prime Minister Madbouly added it will attract “millions of foreign tourists and provide vast employment opportunities, drawing young people to the region”.
The nearest airport, Al Alamein Airport, will be just a 15 minute drive away.
No UK airlines currently operate to the airport, with just Belavia, Flynas and Smartwings currently offering routes from Minks, Prague and Riyadh.
However, more could be added when the resort opens – although until then, the nearest airport for Brits is Cairo. or Borg el Arab in Alexandria.
An official opening date is yet to be revealed.
It’s not the only huge new attraction opening in Brit-loved hotspots.
A £6.8billion attraction is set to open in Greece, with a Dubai-like seaside resort home to five-star hotels and marina.
And a £4.3billion beachfront attraction in Qatar is to “rival Disney” in size.
Five new water attractions opening in the UK next year
- Therme Manchester will have 25 swimming pools, 25 water slides and an indoor beach.
- Modern Surf Manchester will be a surfing lagoon offering lessons to both beginners and experts.
- Chessington World of Adventures waterpark is set to have wave, infinity and spa pools as well as waterslides and cabanas.
- The Cove Resort, Southport is likely to have a water lagoon and a thermal spa with steam rooms and saunas.
- The Seahive, Deal plans to be the “surfing wellness resort” in the UK.
