Netflix has revealed a first look at Saltburn star Barry Keoghan in the upcoming Peaky Blinders film.

Last month, Cillian Murphy was shown to be Birmingham gangster boss Tommy Shelby once again for the movie version of the wildly popular show created by Steven Knight. On Friday, Netflix posted on X: “Your first look at Barry Keoghan in the upcoming Peaky Blinders film!”

The film follows a six-season series met with critical acclaim after dropping on the streaming platform, with Oscar winner Murphy, Paul Anderson, Helen McCrory, Tom Hardy, and Joe Cole leading the cast. Keoghan is a newcomer to the Peaky Blinders world, as is Dune‘s Rebecca Ferguson. The specifics of their characters are still under wraps.

“We’ve announced Rebecca Ferguson, we’ve announced Barry Keoghan, we’ve got some more announcements coming,” Knight said at The Royal Television Society‘s London Convention in September. He was tight-lipped about the project, but told the audience: “It’s set in the Second World War and it’s really good.”

The show culminated with season six in 2022, shortly before Murphy went on to star in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, nabbing an Academy Award. Keoghan has skyrocketed to fame in recent years thanks to appearances in The Batman, Banshees of Inisherin, Saltburn but had to exit the highly-anticipated Gladiator II releasing this month.

Tom Harper, who directed episodes in the first season of the series, directs. He also serves as an executive producer alongside David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren and David Mason.

“When I first directed Peaky Blinders over 10 years ago, we didn’t know what the series would become, but we did know that there was something in the alchemy of the cast and the writing that felt explosive,” the director said when the film was announced.

Peaky has always been a story about family — and so it’s incredibly exciting to be reuniting with Steve and Cillian to bring the movie to audiences across the world on Netflix.”
