Netflix movie featuring Suffolk beach has aired

JOY – The Birth of IVF has just landed on Netflix and during one day of production it was brought to Southwold beach. 

The filming at the beach happened in September 2023. 

A windy day of filming at Southwold beach last year (Image: Screen Suffolk) The film is based on a true story that spans from 1968 to 1978 and follows three trailblazers facing opposition from the church, state, media and medical establishment, in their pursuit for the world’s first ‘test tube baby’, Louise Joy Brown.
