Netflix Greenlights Harlan Coben’s ‘I Will Find You’ as Limited Series

Must read

Netflix and author Harlan Coben are going back into business.

The streamer has greenlit a limited series based on Coben’s novel I Will Find You. The drama is the latest product of an overall deal Netflix signed with the best-selling author back in 2018 and will be the first U.S.-based series based on one of Coben’s books. Robert Hull (God Friended Me, Quantum Leap) is co-creating the series with Coben and will serve as showrunner.

Harlan’s gripping stories are beloved around the world and have consistently captivated fans with their trademark twists and turns, dramatic cliffhangers, and compelling mysteries,” Peter Friedlander, Netflix’s vp scripted series for the U.S. and Canada, said in a statement. “There is no one like Harlan and his first U.S. scripted series with Netflix will be no exception. We know he and Robby will deliver the same thrilling experience that audiences have come to expect and which sets it apart as a must-watch event.”

Hull added, “I’ve been a fan of Harlan’s novels for as long as I can remember and the chance to bring this story to life with him, Jinny, Peter, and the incredible team at Netflix has been a dream come true.”

I Will Find You will run for eight episodes and center on an “innocent father serving life for the murder of his own son receives evidence that his child may still be alive — and must break out of prison to find out the truth,” per the show’s logline.

Netflix has already adapted several of the prolific Coben’s novels — including this year’s breakout Fool Me Once and the forthcoming Missing You, premiering Jan. 1 — across four different langauges to date; Coben works with local writers on each adaptation. Other Coben titles on Netflix are Stay Close and The Stranger (produced in the U.K.), The Innocent (Spain), Gone for Good (France), Hold Tight and The Woods (Poland). Projects based on Caught and Run Away are also in the works.

Hull and Coben (via his Final Twist Productions) will executive produce I Will Find You with Bryan Wynbrandt, Steven Lilien and John Weber.
