The NYPD described Svitlana Indelicato’s injuries as ‘trauma’ to the neck after her husband claimed he found her with a scarf wrapped around her neck in their Brooklyn home
A New York fashion designer was found dead with “trauma” to her neck inside her home, sparking an investigation into her death.
The 50-year-old Brooklyn-based Svitlana Indelicato was found dead with a scarf wrapped around her neck this week, law enforcement sources said on Friday. Svitlana, who designed handbags, scarves and Pashmina shawls was found by her husband who said she was unconscious and unresponsive when he discovered her inside a room in the Bensonhurst home on 80th Street near 16th Avenue.
The accessory designer’s husband called the police at around 5am on Thursday, the sources told the New York Post. Emergency services workers responded and were rushed to the Brooklyn home but tragically Svitlana was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The New York Police Department described Svitlana’s injuries as “trauma” to the neck. New York City’s medical examiner’s office will determine the official cause of her death, and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident as of yet.
Svitlana sold her handbag creations on an Etsy shop called VitalTemptation, and her scarves on the shop ScarfObsession. She wrote on Linkedin: “I work with wool, silk and other natural fibers using very unique and almost forgotten techniques while creating my designs.
“I use felting, [which] is an ancient textile art, where manipulating wool, warm soapy water and rolling, squeezing and rubbing creates a very special one-of-a-kind piece.”

Investigators are looking into the circumstances surrounding Svitlana and her husband has been speaking to police. Officers were spotted guarding the entrance to her home as detectives returned to the scene on Friday, NBC New York reports. Svitlana’s brother-in-law, who lives in the apartment below hers, described the late designer as “very kind”.
He told the local outlet she was “always smiling, lot of small talk, just very kind,” adding: “It was awful when I heard about it, absolutely awful … When I had omicron Covid, I was coughing a lot, and she heard it and came downstairs, in case I needed anything.”
