MSI has unveiled its MAG X870 Tomahawk & PRO X870-P WIFI motherboards for AMD Ryzen 9000 CPUs which feature cost-effective designs.

MSI Shows Its Next-Gen AMD X870 Chipset-Powered MAG Tomahawk & PRO WIFI Designs That Are Designed For The Masses

The first motherboard in MSI’s X870E lineup for AMD’s next-gen Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” CPUs is the MAG X870 Tomahawk WIFI which comes with the AM5 socket and packs a 14+2+1 DRPS phase power delivery with 80A SPS MOSFETs and dual 8-pin power connectors. The motherboard has a premium thermal solution which includes an extended heatsink design, MOSFET thermal pads at 7W/mK, additional choke thermal pads, and M.2 Shield Frozr heatsinks.

The motherboard also has a range of IO such as PCIe 5.0 slots, Lightning Gen5x4 M.2 slots, USB 40G Type-C ports, and WIFI7/5G connectivity solutions. Other handy features on the motherboard include EZ PCIE Release, EZ M.2 clip II, and a screwless M.2 Shield Frozr implementation. As for the design, the motherboard comes with the Tomahawk green and black color scheme which looks nice.

The second motherboard in MSI’s lineup is the PRO X870-P WIFI which features support for quad DDR5 memory DIMMs, a 14+2+1 power delivery with 60A SPS MOSFETs, and a dual 8-pin power connector configuration for the CPU. The motherboard comes with the same features as the Tomahawk but goes light on the heatsinks and M.2 slots. It has a very bare design which should make it a better-priced solution if you don’t need the extra features of the higher-end designs. It has a single PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, three PCIe 4.0 slots, and triple M.2 slots. The motherboard comes with a black and silver aesthetic. Connectivity retains the 5G LAN interface and WIFI 7 wireless connectivity which is always a good thing.

MSI isn’t sharing details on the pricing yet but these motherboards are expected to be priced similar to their predecessors. Expect more information in the coming weeks.
