Taking care of our physical health is a crucial part of living well and supporting our mental health, and movement and exercise are the foundation. With the warm weather finally upon us, we often feel a renewed motivation to get out and get moving after the long, more sedentary winter season. Whether you’re simply looking to incorporate more movement and exercise in your life, to get out and engage with others in a group class, or would like to try out a new type of exercise, there are several opportunities to participate in free fitness classes in our community.
Fitness in the Parks
Now in its 12th year, a partnership between the YMCA and Independent Health will bring “Fitness in the Parks” free community exercise classes to 26 local parks. There are 16 different classes to choose from, including yoga, kickboxing bootcamp, zumba, cardio intervals, core & more, PiYo, walking club, beginners qigong, barre, strength training, and even kids yoga. Each host park has its own schedule and selection of class options. No registration is required to attend a class and most classes are open to all ages and abilities.
