Most popular Xbox games — Palworld roars back into top 40 after big Sakurajima update

Must read

The top five of this week’s Xbox gameplay chart sees Call of Duty firmly booted down to third, while Fortnite and Minecraft move up to the top two spots. Elden Ring has jumped up two places to sixth, presumably as its new DLC tempts more players to dive back in and do battle with the Elden Ring achievements, and Roblox and Destiny 2 have both dropped in the top ten, with Destiny 2 almost falling out at ninth.

As usual, there are bigger rumblings further down the top 40. Ubisoft’s free-to-play shooter XDefiant continues to fall, landing at 15th this week, while Diablo 4 has slipped two places to 16th, but just below we have Robin Hood – Sherwood Builders making its first appearance in the chart at 17th after joining Xbox Game Pass. Valorant is still holding on at 23rd, but Starfield has fallen another five places to 25th. A little further down we have Palworld, which has made it back into the top 40 at 28th after its latest update added new Xbox achievements and a wave of new content. Given that Palworld has more planned for future updates, it’s likely we’ll see it fluctuate a lot on the top 40.

Still Wakes the Deep, which last week made its first appearance in the top 40 after launching into Game Pass, has now dropped 12 places to 29th. Game Pass titles tend to drop down the top 40 relatively quickly, whether it’s due to newer additions, shorter games, or the fact that you can easily try games out via Game Pass before discovering if it’s for you. The same is true for The Callisto Protocol, which has also dropped 12 places to 38th this week. Just above that is this week’s other reappearance with Warframe at 37th (you can grab a Warframe bundle with the latest Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Perks) while Black Ops 2 rounds out the chart at 40th.

We’re now into July, and the month ahead is packed with upcoming Game Pass games which might cause a bit of chaos in the top 40, including Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn.
