MoneySavingExpert explains how to pay less when shopping at Amazon

Must read

Martin Lewis’ team of financial gurus at MoneySavingExpert (MSE) have shared several tips and tricks that can save you money when shopping at Amazon. In MSE’s latest weekly email, the site listed five money-saving hacks.

By remembering these hacks next time you’re browsing through Amazon, you may be able to bag some discounts. Some of MSE’s tips and tricks can be found on Amazon itself, while others involve online tools.

So if you’re looking to treat yourself this summer without having to break the bank, here are five ways you can pay less on Amazon.

Super Saver Delivery Tool

There are a number of Amazon users who purchase items without meeting the minimum delivery spend for an order, and are without Prime. Amazon’s charge varies depending on the type of product purchased and the type of shipping chosen, with Standard delivery can be anything from 99p to £4.99.

The Super Saver Delivery tool (which happens to have been developed by an ex-MSE team member), can help shoppers browse through Amazon for small filler items to bump up your order to £25. It operates by entering how much you need to spend to make-up the minimum of £25.

Make sure you get a good price

Amazon offers a number of discounts, deals and offers site-wide throughout the year – but which time is the best to buy? Shoppers can use CamelCamelCamel’s price history tracking tool to see previous prices.

This way, you can track prices for specific products which are discounted, and if there’s previously been a better offer.

Discounts on Amazon

The online retailer has a number of sister pages which can offer shoppers massive discounts, including Amazon Warehouse, where people can save on ‘often as-new’ returned items. Amazon Warehouse shows and sells returned items at reduced prices, often simply because someone has changed their mind, then categorised by condition.

This ranges from ‘acceptable’, ‘good’, ‘very good’ and ‘like new’. If you want the process to go even faster, MSE has its own Amazon Warehouse Discount Finder to help you find exactly what you’re looking for.

Amazon also offers shoppers the chance to shop for clearance items at its Outlet. The site stocks a number of brand-new excess stock which Amazon (or third-party sellers) are keen to shift. While a number of products may be discounted, not every item is.

While Amazon Warehouse is mostly for current models, Amazon Renewed only sells pre-owned tech products which have been tested, refurbished and look brand new. The refurbished items give shoppers the opportunity to purchase good quality tech for a good price.
