Beloved comedian Miranda Hart has revealed she secretly tied the knot at the age of 51.
The star made the surprise announcement during a TV appearance on Tuesday evening. Hart, known for her self-titled sitcom Miranda, was promoting her new book when she shared the joyous news.
“I’m married, I got married at 51 and it’s just so lovely!” Hart gushed on BBC’s The One Show to hosts Alex Jones and Alex Scott.
She explained that she met her “person” at 49 whilst battling a chronic illness. The comedian remained coy about her husband’s identity but confirmed that “someone’s put a ring on it”.
Fans had speculated about Hart’s marital status after spotting a wedding band in her recent social media posts.
Her new book, I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You, set to release on Thursday, offers insights into her recent life experiences.
The memoir touches on her secret marriage and chronicles her journey with chronic illness over the past three years.

In a publicity blurb, Hart writes about an “unexpectedly difficult decade” filled with “surprising joys” and “challenging lows”.
She promises to share “treasures” – practical tools and insights gleaned from various experts – that have led to “a sense of freedom, joy, peace and physical recovery”.
The comedian hopes her story might help readers with their own challenges, stating: “After all, we are in this beautiful, mysterious, challenging life together.”
Hart’s book appears to blend her trademark humour with candid reflections on personal struggles and triumphs.
In August, Hart opened up about her battle with a secret illness that caused weight gain.

She shared on social media: “I have found it incredibly hard not to feel shame from gaining weight over the last three years.
“Not because of striving for an aesthetic ideal but because it doesn’t represent me and who I naturally am.”
The comedian emphasised that her struggle wasn’t about aesthetics, but feeling uncomfortable in her own skin.
Hart added: “But life happens. Illness happens. And it’s a great way to keep focusing on the greatest healer – self-compassion.”
She didn’t disclose the specific illness but mentioned working hard to dismantle feelings of shame. Hart’s candid revelations about her health struggles have resonated with fans, many of whom praised her honesty and vulnerability.
