Midsomer Murders season 23 continues but who is to star in the upcoming episode The Debt Of Lies?

The long-running ITV murder mystery is back following a four-month hiatus since the latest series made its debut back in April.

This time around, DCI John Barnaby (played by Neil Dudgeon) is to be faced with a killing at a police retirement community with some acquaintances now thought of as suspects.

Who are the guest stars in Midsomer Murders’ The Debt Of Lies?

Sebastian Cabot – Tom Conti

Barnaby introduces wife Sarah (Fiona Dolman) to his old gaffer Sebastian Cabot who is attending the party of a new resident at the retirement community.

Sebastian is portrayed by actor Tom Conti who was thrust into the limelight in The Glittering Prizes in 1976 before going on to star in a number of memorable films and shows.

Some of these include Shirley Valentine, The Norman Conquests, Jackanory, Friends, Deadline, Paddington 2 and most recently Oppenheimer, just to name a few.

Elaine Bennet – Sabina Franklyn

Elaine is the newest resident at the retirement community Challis Court and Sebstian’s neighbour.

However, the end of her story is the beginning of another as she is the victim in The Debt Of Lies.

She is played by actress Sabina Franklyn who many will remember for starring as Jacqui Rush in Keeping It In The Family and as Jane Bennet in the 1980 adaptation of Pride And Prejudice.

Lionel Bennet – Lorne McFadyen

In The Debt Of Lies, Lionel Bennet is Elaine’s son who is in attendance at the party before she is murdered.

Some of actor Lorne McFadyen’s most recent work has been in The Lazarus Project, Malpractice, Starstruck and Disney+’s Pistol.

Matty Bennet – Diana Yekinni

Matty is Elaine’s step-daughter and Lionel’s step-sister and is left heartbroken after her death.

Actress Diana Yekinni has had a number of minor roles in various shows and films, such as Doctors, Refugees, Murder Island, Heart of Stone and Better Halves.

Charlie Cabot – Jules Robertson

Charlie is the son of Sebastian who has autism and OCD and lives in a sheltered environment.

Holby City fans will best know actor Jules Robertson as Jason Haynes in the medical drama, having been in the BBC series for six years.

As well as the guest stars, Dudgeon will be back as DCI John Barnaby, Dolman as Sarah Barnaby, Nick Hendrix as DS Jamie Winter and Annette Badland as Fleur Perkins.

Midsomer Murders season 23, episode 2, The Debt Of Lies, airs on Tuesday, July 16, at 8.15pm on ITV.
