Clare Bailey, the widowed wife of Dr Michael Mosley, has shared an emotional homage to her late husband on Instagram.
The GP and nutrition expert expressed her sorrow over Michael’s tragic passing from heat exhaustion after he was missing for several days on the Greek Island of Symi earlier this month.
In a touching message to her followers, Clare expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support she and her family have received and made a promise to carry on with their shared passion that brought them both “so much joy” and “a sense of purpose.”
In her poignant post, Clare wrote: “Thank you all for your wonderfully supportive messages.
“The outpouring of love from so many people has meant a huge amount to me and my family. I’m going to be quiet for a while. I’m sure you will understand. But I will be back here soon.
“I very much want to continue with the work that gave Michael and myself so much joy and such a sense of purpose.”
She added: “Once more thank you so much for respecting my family’s privacy so kindly.
“Michael was an amazing man. Thank you for seeing that too. We miss him so much.”
Clare has been overwhelmed with messages of love and support, as one follower penned: “We are all here with you and for you and your family.
“He has changed our lives and will continue to do so. Thank you for sharing him with us for so long. Take all the time you need but please come back. We all need you too xxx.”
Another added: “We loved your husband, you made a great team and completely understand what a loss this is for you and your family.
“Thank you to you both for everything you have done to promote good health.”
In a tragic turn of events earlier this month, Clare reported her husband missing to Greek authorities after the beloved TV doctor didn’t return from a walk, reports the Mirror.
His body was tragically found four days later in a rugged area near Agia Marina beach, and it was confirmed that he had passed away due to natural causes.
At the time, Clare released a heartfelt statement saying: “I don’t know quite where to begin with this. It’s devastating to have lost Michael, my wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant husband.
We had an incredibly lucky life together. We loved each other very much and were so happy together. I am incredibly proud of our children, their resilience and support over the past days.”
“My family and I have been hugely comforted by the outpouring of love from people from around the world.
“It’s clear that Michael meant a huge amount to so many of you. We’re taking comfort in the fact that he so very nearly made it.
“He did an incredible climb, took the wrong route and collapsed where he couldn’t be easily seen by the extensive search team. Michael was an adventurous man, it’s part of what made him so special.”
