Meghan Markle exposé documentary delayed over ‘concerns about her past’

A German documentary set to expose secrets from Meghan Markle’s past has mysteriously been put on hold, Express.co.uk has learned.

According to a source, the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle exposé which was set to air on the ZDF network in Germany has suffered a minor setback to allow for more research time and to ensure that everything is legally sound with the project.

“The team wants to make sure that everything used on Meghan Markle is correct,” said the source.

“Every detail will be checked and double-checked to make sure that it is legally sound and factually correct.

“There will be ‘eyes’ on the project, so the team wants to make sure that they have dotted the i’s and crossed the t’s as it were.”

A post recently added to filmmaker Ulrike Grunewald’s Instagram account states: “The documentary about Harry and Meghan has to wait – research is still underway.”

Meghan Markle, 42, and Prince Harry, 39, were reportedly in a panic over the new tell-all documentary by the infamous German royal commentator.

The upcoming programme will focus on the Duchess of Sussex’s past, with reports stating that Meghan fears what might emerge.

The duchess has had no direct involvement in the documentary and her team are said to be “concerned” over what details might be contained in the expose.

“There are obviously concerns over what revelations might be contained in the documentary and the situation is being closely monitored,” said the source.

Grunewald and her team have recently been filming for the project in California, where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex live with their children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.

The team behind the project are renowned in Germany for exposing secrets on the British Royal Family.

Just last week the ZDF network aired ‘Prinzessin Kate Und das Drama der Windsors’ which translates into English as ‘Princess Kate and The Drama of The Windsors’ and took a look at how the Windsors were coping without the Princess of Wales on the frontline since her cancer diagnosis.

Since stepping down as working royals, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have featured in their own self-titled Netflix docuseries ‘Harry & Meghan’ which levelled a series of allegations at the Royal Family.

Prince Harry has also published a ghost-written memoir, Spare, in which he made a series of well-documented claims against his family.

The German documentary comes as Harry and Meghan are in the middle of producing new shows for Netflix.

The duke is producing a series on polo while Meghan is filming a cooking series after launching her own lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.
