Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s former aide sums up job in three brutal words

Must read

Samantha Cohen resigned from her role as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s private secretary in October 2019 – and went on to describe her experience of working for the former working royals in three brutal words.

After being appointed for the role at he personal request of the late Queen Elizabeth II, Ms Cohen had previously worked for the late monarch for 17 years. She had firstly worked as her press secretary, before moving to the role of private secretary.

Speaking to the Australian Herald Sun, Ms Cohen – who is originally from Brisbane – said that she agreed to work for Meghan and Harry for six months, however ended up staying in the role for a year and a half. This was due to the fact they “couldn’t find a replacement”.

As well as describing working for Meghan and Harry as being like “working with teenagers” in a brutal three-word verdict, Mr Cohen said that during the couple’s first tour to Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand, she ended up being “screamed at”.

Writing in his book ‘Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind The Crown’, author Valentine Low said: “Sam [Cohen] always made clear that it was like working for a couple of teenagers.

“[Meghan and Harry] were impossible and pushed her to the limit. She was miserable.”

It comes as Josh Kettler, who was granted the role as Harry’s Chief of Staff back in May, has quit his job after only three months. However, it is understood that his departure was mutually agreed due to it “not being the right fit”.

The shock exit comes shortly before the couple’s upcoming Colombia tour.

The visit will include stops in Colombia’s capital city, Bogotá, as well as Cartagena and Cali.

Francia Márquez, Colombia’s vice president, has invited the couple to visit. In a statement, she said: “As the Vice President of Colombia and Minister of Equality and Equity, I am pleased to announce that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have kindly accepted my invitation to visit our beautiful country.”
