A fashion feud reportedly caused a rift between Meghan Markle and Princess Kate early on in their relationship.
It’s claimed tensions arose when Meghan found herself second in line to Kate for the latest designs from a top designer. The resentment became apparent when Kate’s wardrobe was prioritised, reports in the Mirror suggest.
Meghan was a fan of British designer Erdem Moraloglu’s clothes, but it’s alleged her future sister-in-law, who was already a customer, got first pick. This reportedly upset Meghan, who had worn his dresses to several events before joining the Royal family.
After becoming a royal, Meghan didn’t publicly wear the respected designer’s outfits until 2019, according to The Telegraph. The fact the clothes were given to Kate first is said to have upset the Sussexes.
Meghan was reportedly so annoyed she questioned why William‘s wife was given priority over her, allegedly saying Kate ‘wasn’t even Queen’.
Prince Harry revealed more about a fallout between the pair over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress, claiming the incident left Meghan ‘sobbing on the floor’
Harry alleges the incident was largely driven by Kate, who was angered at having to wait a day to hear back from Meghan about the offending garment ahead of the 2018 Royal wedding.

A Royal expert has suggested Prince Harry was deluding himself if he believed his wife, Meghan Markle, and sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, would become close friends.
The Duke of Sussex criticised Kate in his contentious memoir Spare revealing details about a disagreement over bridesmaids’ dresses during his wedding preparations left Meghan in tears.
In a television interview, he also accused Kate of stereotyping Meghan, claiming her actions created a divide. Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine and Royal biographer, believes Kate will be “upset and angry” with Harry for publicly discussing her.
In Netflix’s three-part docuseries ‘Harry and Meghan’, the Duchess revealed she deliberately wore neutral colours while living in the UK to avoid matching with other royals.
She explained: “To my understanding, you can’t ever wear the same colour as Her Majesty if there’s a group event. But then you also should never be wearing the same colour as one of the other more senior members of the family.”
