Manchester United are reportedly willing to go head-to-head with Arsenal to sign Ajax striker Brian Brobbey.
Despite the disastrous campaign for the Eredivisie last term, Brobbey was one of the standout performers for the side. He scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions.
Brobbey has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford with Erik ten Hag considering a reunion with his former player. However, they are not alone in their pursuit, with the Sun reporting that Arsenal and a host of Italian clubs are also eyeing a move for the 22-year-old, who is said to be valued at £30million.

Mikel Arteta’s side are in the market to sign a new forward as an option to injury-prone Gabriel Jesus. The Dutchman is a cheaper alternative to Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres.
The article adds that Brobbey has his heart set on a move to the Premier League. Previously speaking to NOS Jeugdjournaal, he said: “Arsenal, I think that is a very nice club. If you look at that stadium.
“A very nice club. But that also applies to Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid. I have a contract until 2027. At the moment I am just with Ajax.”
The Reds have also been reported to have agreed personal terms with Joshua Zirkzee and his agent. Fabrizio Romano states that United will now hold talks over a ‘deal structure’ for the 23-year-old but they also have the option to trigger the £34m (€40m) release clause.
Therefore it remains to be seen whether they will continue their pursuit for Brobbey.
