Manchester United have already received bids from foreign clubs for Scott McTominay after the homegrown midfielder played his way back into Erik ten Hag’s plans last term
Manchester United have rejected bids from Galatasaray for Scott McTominay following his resurgence last year.
McTominay, 27, looked all but certain to be on his way out of Old Trafford last summer and was the subject of interest from West Ham, although the Londoners fell short of meeting United’s demands for the academy graduate.
The Scotland international went on to enjoy the most productive season of his career, scoring 10 goals and establishing himself as a key figure during what was a difficult campaign for the club and Erik ten Hag. It has now emerged via The Manchester Evening News that McTominay is already attracting interest this summer – and that bids from Galatasaray have been knocked back.
McTominay is in the final year of his contract but United do hold a one-year option to extend those terms. There are also doubts as to whether the Turkish giants would actually be able to meet the club’s valuation of the player.

Galatasaray vice-chairman Ibrahim Hatipoglu has confirmed that the club are in talks over a potential deal for McTominay, while Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is also a target.
McTominay is valued highly by Manchester United following Ten Hag’s U-turn on selling him. There was even suggestions that the club would open talks over a new contract last season, while his standing in the squad was underlined back in December when he was made captain for the match against United’s arch-rivals, Liverpool.
While McTominay has gained Ten Hag’s trust, United are known to be open to serious offers for all but a handful of younger players including the likes of Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund. And with McTominay being a homegrown player who was progressed into the team from the club’s academy, any potential deal for the midfielder would count as pure profit per the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
United have a limited transfer budget of £50million this summer amid said PSR rules and need to sell if they are to spend more. The Red Devils have already wrapped up a deal worth £36.5m for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee and are also in talks to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich with the German giants demanding a sum of £42m for the Netherlands international.
