Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United future remains in doubt and some fans are convinced he is set to be sacked after a deleted post on social media by Alejandro Garnacho’s brother Roberto
Some Manchester United fans believe Erik ten Hag will be sacked today due to a now-deleted social media post by Alejandro Garnacho’s brother.
United are currently carrying out an in-depth club review which will see a final decision made over Ten Hag’s future. The likes of Thomas Tuchel, Thomas Frank and Mauricio Pochettino are all in the mix as potential replacements for the Dutchman, who has one year left on his contract.
And some supporters are convinced United are set to axe Ten Hag after Roberto Garnacho responded to a post from a fan on social media. on Monday “Tomorrow might be the worst day of my life,” the fan wrote.
“Currently looking into the stars, tears building up in my eyes. I can’t fathom Ten Hag going.” Garnacho then responded: “Same, and I’m not even joking, let’s pray for us.” The post has since been deleted and Garnacho has gone on to insist that he has “no idea about anything” and that he was “just saying I want him to say”.
However, his initial comments have left some convinced that Ten Hag’s time at Old Trafford is over. “Unfortunately, We should Accept he’s gone,” wrote one fan.
Another added: “I mean it’s pathetic all you do is move on and hope Ineos made the right decision plus see how it plans out over time into next season etc. Even if you disagree with it If they do sack him we don’t know for what reasons yet nor could be mutual parting ways.”
Ten Hag has won two trophies in his time at United, but last season’s eighth-placed finish was the club’s worst since the Premier League began. And when quizzed about his future after winning the FA Cup last month, he admitted: “I don’t know.
“The only thing I’m doing is preparing my team, developing my team. This is a project for me. When I came in I can say it was a mess. Now we are better. We are not where we want to be. Football is about winning trophies.
“I want to play the best football, dynamic, attacking football but in the end you have to win games and trophies. That’s the mentality we brought in. This was our one opportunity and we did it. I’m very proud of the players and staff.”
