Man United transfer news live Ten Hag latest and Bruno Fernandes talks

Must read

It is now more than a week since Manchester United lifted the FA Cup and the club is still yet to communicate a decision on manager Erik ten Hag’s future.

The Ineos Group started their end-of-season review last week and the outcome of that is set to decide Ten Hag’s future at the club. However, sources indicated that a decision would not be announced imminently.

With the opening of the summer transfer window now a little over a week away, United need to make a decision one way or another. The prospect of a decision being delayed much longer risks impacting their transfer plans.

Speaking of the window, United are continuing to be linked with a plethora of players ahead of it opening on June 14. The Reds have identified key positions they wish to strengthen and links with the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite and Michael Olise are persisting.

Elsewhere, England will step up their Euro 2024 preparations tonight, hosting Bosnia and Herzegovina at St James’ Park. It marks their penultimate friendly ahead of travelling to Germany for the tournament.

Gareth Southgate changes tune on Luke Shaw

There is a good chance the Manchester United defender makes England’s final squad for the European Championship.

Shaw was last in action for United in February after he was substituted at half-time in United’s win against Luton Town. He was included in the provisional England squad.

Southgate told talkSPORT: “He’s progressing very well, I have to say. I think I said last week that until we had the players in front of us working with us, there was a lot of information that we didn’t have.

Sellable assset

TV pundit Shaka Hislop, speaking on ESPN, has had his say on the reports linking Bruno Fernandes with a move to Bayern Munich.

“From a Bruno Fernandes perspective, he’s the star of the show at Old Trafford, he is the kingpin in the red part of Manchester, and he wants to see things built around him. From a Manchester United perspective, and we’ve made a lot of this about their financial issues, yes, Sir Jim Ratcliffe coming in, maybe inject some cash, but how does that play with the sustainability regulations? So if he’s a sellable asset, then if there is genuine interest, which again, I am not 100 percent certain that there is genuine interest from Bayern Munich, then Manchester United may be tempted.”

Casemiro could be set for Ronaldo reunion

Casemiro has reportedly been approached by former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo over a transfer to Saudi Arabia.

The Brazilian midfielder is said to be attracting interest from three Saudi Arabian teams, one of them being Ronaldo’s Al Nassr. Al Ahli and Al Qasadiya are also credited with an interest.

Previously speaking about his future, Casemiro said: “I’m well, I’m happy, living every day I get to play here. As I usually say, Manchester United gave me what I wanted.

“This joy of being able to enjoy the game, enjoy the Premier League. So, I’m happy to be here at Manchester United and enjoying the game.”

Latest transfer round-up

With the summer transfer window set to open on June 14, a number of names have already been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag will also have some decisions to make as players are set to return from their loan spells. Despite uncertainty over his future, for now, the Dutchman remains in the job and will be preparing for the 2024/25 season.

Fresh name on the radar

Manchester United are reportedly interested in Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez.

According to talkSPORT (via the Daily Echo), the club would demand a ‘high fee’ for the left-back, who only joined the club last summer.

Asked how Kerkez was handling the speculation, head coach Andoni Iraola said: “I think for everyone, you have to focus on the things you control.

“The best thing for a football player is to try to do your job the best you can. This is the only thing that will put you in the best position.

“I think that is what everyone should try to do. I try to also do my part and focus on your job, that is what will put you in a better position.”

Erik ten Hag decision expected

It’s now nine days since Manchester United finished their season with a stunning FA Cup win over Man City at Wembley. And nine days of speculation about Erik ten Hag’s future.

The build-up to the cup final was dominated by talk that United would sack Ten Hag regardless of the result, after a woeful league campaign that saw them finish in eighth spot – their worst finish in the Premier League era. There were mitigating factors, as always, with injuries especially used as a reason behind the results, but there was no denying the disappointment.

The Ineos Group started their end-of-season review last week. Technical director Jason Wilcox is at the heart of it. How long the review will take remains to be seen, but what has to happen – and surely will happen – this week is a decision on Ten Hag’s future. The club needs some decisiveness ahead of the official opening of the transfer window. United are already in danger of slipping further behind their rivals when they need to be trying to catch them up.

Expect a decision at some point this week.

Bruno Fernandes ‘talks’

Bayern Munich have reportedly taken the first steps towards signing Bruno Fernandes.

The Portuguese midfielder is attracting interest from a host of clubs ahead of the transfer window. Fernandes, who addressed his Manchester United future after the 3-2 win over Newcastle United last month, said: “I will be here until when the club wants me and the club wants me to be a part of the future. If for some reason they don’t want me, then I will go.”

Now reports in Portugal claim his agent has held talks with Vincent Kompany’s Bayern over a summer switch.
