Manchester United-linked Kevin Danso has sent a message to French fans and Kylian Mbappe after the France star suffered a broken nose in an accidental clash between the two players.
Mbappe received treatment on the pitch after the clash in the closing stages of the Euro 2024 encounter on Monday night. Blood was seen pouring from his nose with the injury forcing Les Bleus into a change.
It has since been confirmed that Mbappe has suffered a broken nose, but does not require surgery and could even make a return for France’s next match. He will however have to wear a protective mask.

France came out as 1-0 winners in the game with Mbappe’s cross forcing Max Wober to head into his own net. Didier Descamps’ side face the Netherlands in their next group game on Friday (8pm kick-off).
Taking to Instagram, Austrian defender Danso wrote: “It was a great fight, unfortunately with an unfortunate ending for us. Nevertheless, I am very proud of our team, our fans and my European Championship debut. Thank you all for your incredible support in this stadium in Düsseldorf, which is still a special place for me.”
He then added in French: “To the French supporters: I’m sorry that Kylian Mbappé got injured during our duel. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope he can quickly regain his place on the field.”
Danso has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months with United keen to add to their defensive options. Raphael Varane’s exit from the club this summer means that they will be looking for reinforcements.
It was reported last summer that United had been keeping an eye on Danso, who plays for Ligue 1 side RC Lens. The 25-year-old does have previous experience in the Premier League, having spent the 2019/20 season on loan with Southampton.
