Marseille have reached an agreement with Manchester United for a permanent move for Mason Greenwood.

Greenwood is training alone away from the rest of the Man United’s players, who have already returned for pre-season, while the club resolve his future.

Last month talkSPORT reported Marseille are keen to add Greenwood to their squad and have held positive talks with him.

It appears they have won the race for the forward and will pay £26.7million. This is comprised of £23.3m fixed with a further £3.4m in add ons.

United are also set to receive 50 per cent of any future sale.

The 22-year-old had also attracted strong interest from Lazio, Napoli and Juventus as well as clubs in Spain, Germany and Portugal.

Lazio had a £17million bid for Greenwood rejected earlier this year.

The Bradford-born player spent last season on loan with LaLiga’s Getafe.

We reported that the Spanish club opened talks with Man United over another season-long loan, but Greenwood will be making a permanent move.

Last August, the Red Devils confirmed the striker would continue his career away from the club following an internal investigation.

Greenwood was arrested in January 2022 on suspicion of rape, assault and making threats to kill after images and videos surfaced online.

He was then suspended by the club and he denied all allegations.

All charges were then dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February 2023 due to ‘a combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material’.

However United still conducted their internal investigation.

He last played for Man United on January 22, 2022 in a 1-0 win over West Ham.
